Birthday Cake Pops

This weekend I was invited to a co-workers house to celebrate her daughter's 13th birthday. I decided to bring some cake pops . I made two different kinds of flavored cake, chocolate and a white cake, then I used home made cream cheese frosting for both. Since this was a teenage party I wanted to make it fun so I chose a few different candy coating colors. I used dark cocoa, pink, white, chocolate, and purple. I added rainbow colored jimmies or nonpareils.

I then wrapped them individually then placed them in a decorative birthday box I found at Michael's craft store the other day.

They were a hit at the party. I'm glad they enjoyed it.

Just because....

These are cake truffles and cake pops made of yellow cake and vanilla frosting (all from scratch) coated with either a dark cocoa or white chocolate candy coating. I topped some of them off with shredded coconut or sprinkles. Looks good huh?

Happy Halloween

Happy halloween everyone. I made these cookies for my daughters daycare. I used my shortbread recipe and decorated with royal icing for the ghosts and fondant and royal icing for the pumkins. The kids loved it.

Busy weekend

Ok, so this weekend was super BUSY! I was asked to make cookie favors for a joint birthday party, with two different themes. Tinkerbell for Gabby who's turning 4 and Pirates for her brother Jacob who's turning 1.

For the Tinkerbell theme I decided to go with my shortbread recipe and use flower and star shaped cookie cutters while incorporating the colors from the movie, green, yellow and purple. For the star shaped cookies I made them into wands using lollipop sticks.

Then for the pirate theme I went with pirate ships and skull & crossbones shaped sugar cookies. Then I wrapped each cookie in clear cello bags with matching ribbons, placed them all in a basket to transport to the party. Everyone loved them!

So then I was asked just a few days ago if I can provide some dessert for another party the same weekend. Of course I said yes. What I created was a large dessert tray filled with my yummy chocolate chip cookies, mini fudgy brownies and some pecan tarts. I then made some strawberry cake truffles. It's strawberry cake with vanilla frosting shaped into truffles them dipped in white chocolate.

Some of my work

Here are just some pictures of cake truffles that I've made recently..... enjoy!

Cake Balls or Cake Truffles ?

Some people call them cake balls, but I prefer to use cake truffles. It just sounds better to me. What are cake truffles you ask? Well, it's crumbled cake mixed in with frosting, then they're rolled into balls and finally, dipped into chocolate coating. Yummmm! doesn't that sound good?

You can use box cake mix and the frosting of your choice that you get at the grocery store, but I prefer to make my cake and frosting from scratch! Why? Because that's how I roll! You can get real creative and decorate your truffles anyway you want. You can even put it on a lollipop stick and make a cake pop (kid's really love it this way).

Or you can put them in cupcake liners and place them in a box. I made these recently for a customer. It was for a 16th birthday party. The cake is red velvet with cream cheese frosting and coated with Guittard Chocolate Apeels candy coating. I LOVE Guittard! I found it much better than Wilton's candy melts that you buy at the local craft stores.
